Dr. Žarko Nikčević is a specialist in microbiology and parasitology with extensive experience in laboratory diagnostics, education, and managing microbiology centers.
Education
- He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Sarajevo in 1980, receiving the Golden Badge for academic excellence.
- In 1988, he completed his specialization in microbiology and parasitology at the postgraduate program of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Belgrade.
Professional experience
- Between 1981 and 1984, he worked at the Institute for Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Faculty of Medicine in Tuzla.
- He then specialized at the Institute for Microbiology within the University Clinical Center Tuzla from 1984 to 1988.
- From 1988 to 1992, he was a specialist in microbiology and parasitology at the same institute, where he also led the Serology and Immunology Department.
- Concurrently, he served as a teaching assistant at the Department of Microbiology at the Faculty of Medicine in Tuzla.
- From 1993 to 2023, he headed the Center for Microbiological Diagnostics at the Primary Health Care Center in Cetinje.
- Additionally, between 1998 and 2013, he mentored medical specialization trainees from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Belgrade, providing training in microbiology.
