Kristina Mašanović

Dr Kristina Mašanović earned a master’s degree in molecular biology and physiology and has extensive academic and professional experience in laboratory diagnostics and genetics.

She is currently working on her PhD at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Belgrade, focusing on tumor biology and oxidative stress. Her research explores the link between GST polymorphisms, heart failure, and myocarditis. At the same time, she is enrolled in specialist academic studies in microbiology at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade, where she studies human papillomavirus (HPV) genetics and its prevalence along the Montenegrin coast.

Education and training

Graduated from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, University of Belgrade, with a degree in molecular biology and physiology.
Completed a master’s degree at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade, specializing in forensic sciences, where she researched the optimization of the SNaPShot method for detecting rare monogenic neurological disorders in the Roma population and gained hands-on experience in DNA isolation, gel electrophoresis, PCR techniques, sequencing, and genetic data analysis.
She also completed specialized training and earned certifications in molecular diagnostics, laboratory standards, and biosafety protocols.

Professional experience

From 2020 to 2021, she trained at Polyclinic Zejnilović, gaining experience in biochemical analysis and genetic diagnostics.
In 2021, she worked at Polyclinic MojLab, handling sample preparation, analysis, and virus/bacteria detection using Q-PCR methods.
Since 2021, she has been part of the Primary Health Care Center in Kotor, working as an analyst in microbiological and molecular diagnostics, where she focuses on virus detection and analysis (COVID-19, HPV, Bordetella pertussis), laboratory management, staff training, and developing standard operating procedures.
