Dr. Ognjen Jovićević is a specialist in otolaryngology and surgery, dedicated to diagnosing and treating ear, nose, and throat (ENT) conditions in both children and adults. For over two decades, he has successfully combined clinical work, surgical practice, and education, with a particular focus on pediatric otolaryngology and modern surgical techniques.

Education

  • Graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Belgrade in 2000.
  • Completed a residency in otolaryngology in 2006 at the Institute for Otorhinolaryngology and Maxillofacial Surgery, University Clinical Centre of Serbia.
  • Earned a Master’s degree in medical sciences in 2010, with a thesis on inflammatory processes in chronic tonsillitis in children.

  • Head of the ENT department at the Institute for Children’s Diseases, Clinical Center of Montenegro (KCCG) since 2006.
  • Worked as a clinical physician at the Institute for Children’s Diseases, Clinical Center of Montenegro in 2002.
  • Completed a medical internship at the Primary Health Care Center Podgorica from 2000 to 2001.
  • Has been working as an ENT consultant at PZU Milmedika in Budva, Podgorica, and Tivat since 2008.
  • Mentors specialist training programs in otolaryngology, pediatrics, and family medicine.
  • Guest lecturer in otolaryngology and pediatric otolaryngology.
  • Dr. Jovićević has performed over 12,000 surgeries under general anesthesia, including:
    • Approximately 10,000 tonsil and adenoid surgeries.
    • More than 5,000 ear ventilation tube placements.

Dr. Jovićević actively participates in numerous international congresses and professional workshops, often as a lecturer or presenter. His research focuses on pediatric otolaryngology, inflammatory diseases, and modern surgical methods, with notable contributions including:

  • Cytokines IL-6, IL-8, TNF-α, and IL-1β in recurrent tonsillitis in children – research on cytokines' roles in chronic tonsillitis in children.
  • Pars tensa retractions without cholesteatoma in children – analysis of ossicular damage predictors in children.
  • Quality of life of children with otitis media with effusion – study on how serous otitis affects children's quality of life.
  • Publications on foreign bodies in children's airways and nasal passages, complications of acute otitis media, and modern surgical approaches.

He has presented at many international congresses, including ESPO, the European Immunology Congress, the Pan-American Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology Congress, and the Balkan Congress of Pediatric Surgery. His presentations have covered topics such as functional endoscopic sinus surgery, otitis complications, rhinologic procedures, and pediatric head and neck surgery.
